Preamble: Whereas, it is expedient to amend and consolidate forth with the prevailing laws relating to banks and financial institutions in order to enhance the confidence of the general public towards the overall banking and financial system of the country; to protect and promote the rights and interests of depositors; to provide quality and reliable banking and financial services to the general public through healthy competition among banks and financial institutions thereby making national economy strong and strengthened; and to maintain financial stability and make the necessary legal provisions concerning to incorporation operation, management, regulation, inspection and supervision of banks and financial institutions timely; Now, therefore, be this Act enacted by the Legislature-Parliament as referred to in Clause (1) of Article 296 of the Constitution of Nepal.
